Not much to update you all on. We've been very busy as everyone usually is around this time of year. School schedules, college, volunteering, jobs, church, etc . . . one busy schedule, especially for my mom who has to run us around. (Thanks Mom!) Our church is preparing for the annual Christmas special the first Sunday of December. We also recently had a church harvest festival which was a lot of fun. Many activities going on this time of year.
Of course, we're all preparing for the upcoming holiday - Thanksgiving!!!! Whoo hoo!!! :) Thanksgiving has become one of our most favorite holidays around here. For as long as I can remember, it has been a tradition for us to do the hosting every year. We have some really close friends and some family over and it is always such a blast. Huge dinner. Hang out all day, talking, playing games and instruments, singing, eating, and just having a good time. The past few years it has sort of become a tradition to "carol the Christmas season in" on Thanksgiving evening. We all bundle up and head out into the frosty night air to walk up and down the street singing all kinds of Christmas carols. If you haven't guessed, we love singing so often times it ends in several of our favorite church songs as well in praise to God. Occasionally, we go to a few neighbors houses and carol for them, particularly one Ukranian family that we all love. The first time we went they were so happy that we came. They had their family there and they all crowded around the door to hear us, then they invited us in and sang to us in Ukrainian and gave us food and visited. They are a very sweet family! We went the year following as well, but last year, to our disappointment, they were gone so we left a plate of goodies on their doorstep. This year, we are so excited that my mom's sister Amanda gets to come out. She has never actually been to our house and it has been awhile since we've seen her so we're all excited! It will be a lot of fun to have her!
Sooo....since it is Thanksgiving and a time that people are naturally trying to be more "thankful" and celebrate God's blessings, I will end with naming a few things that I am thankful for:
- A wonderful, supportive family - Love you guys!
- My best friend - for good memories, someone I laugh and talk with like NO ONE ELSE! :)
- My volunteer job at the hospital - I am grateful I have been able to do this work for almost two years. It has been a good experience for me.
- God's blessing on our Daughters of Light blog. We've gotten over 10,000 hits from all over the world - that is ONLY GOD!!!!
- My high school Bible Study Class (I just moved to the Young Adults class this October). I loved my teachers and fellow class-mates. Miss you all! ;)
- A good pastor who is concerned that you make Heaven your home and cares about you as a person.
- My health - it's so easy to take for granted but SUCH a blessing!
- For my high school graduation this year (class of 2009) - I'm grateful that God brought me successfully through high school and that I was able to be homeschooled.
- Love & Laughter - It's good medicine!
- To be saved - my salvation is my richest treasure! I am SO thankful that God gave me a heart to serve Him and accepted me as His child. He made such a sacrifice for me!
